About This Course

The aim is to allow students to build a solid security foundation, before you move on to studying identity management and authentication, and reflect on your learning journey.

Whether you're planning to pursue a career in security engineering or simply want to understand how secure software conceptualisation and design works, this course will provide you with the experience you need to go on to studying other aspects in the field of cybersecurity.

Program Outcomes

Students will gain knowledge on the theoretical concepts and methods used for authentication and authorisation, as well as access control. Several practical authorisation frameworks such as OAuth, and SAML are discussed in relation to topics such as decentralised identity management, behavioural authentication, and blockchain.

  • Understand the core concepts and methods used for authentication, authorisation and access control
  • Assess practical application scenarios and apply suitable solution concepts and strategies to solve problems of identity management and authentication
  • Identify complex problems of identity management and develop appropriate solution strategies

  • This course is offered as a micro degree.
  • German UDS Micro Degrees are compatible with the European MOOC Consortiums Common Micro Credentials Framework.
  • Micro Degrees will be rewarded with an equivalent of 5 ECTS.
  • Micro Degrees are offered to non-regular students and require a fee of €900.
