About This Course

Digital Management and Work (5 ECTS) examines how digitalization is reshaping management practice, organizational structures, and the nature of work. The course integrates strategic management perspectives with organizational behavior, HR management, and technology studies to provide a comprehensive understanding of management in the digital age.

The guiding theoretical framework is Henri Schildt's Data Imperative, which describes how the pursuit of Omniscience (comprehensive knowledge through data) and Omnipotence (real-time control through algorithms) is creating a new normative logic for management.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course students will:

  • Provide students with an understanding of advanced concepts of leadership and change management in the digital age.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the change management process
  • Apply leadership theories and change management concepts in practice, e.g. in companies of various industries or public institution show to create and realize new business ideas outside and inside of existing organizations

Micro Degree

  • This course is offered as a micro degree.
  • German UDS Micro Degrees are compatible with the European MOOC Consortiums Common Micro Credentials Framework.
  • Micro Degrees will be rewarded with an equivalent of 5 ECTS.
  • Micro Degrees are offered to non-regular students and require a fee of €900.

Course Staff

Prof. Dr. Georg Loscher is a Senior Researcher at the German University of Digital Science, specializing in the digital transformation of management. He previously held a senior research position at the Universität der Bundeswehr München, where he completed his PhD and habilitation. Dr. Loscher has also conducted academic visits at the University of Oxford and Trinity College Dublin, focusing on how digital technologies reshape management and work.
