Overview

The Bachelor’s program Digital World is a research-oriented degree program aimed at first-year students with a strong digital affinity and a keen interest in the world of digitality. The program teaches basic scientific skills as well as specialist knowledge and skills in economics and information science. In addition, students acquire basic methodological, social and personal skills. During the course of the studies, the students will be specifically prepared for life and work in the digital world – a world in which time and gravity no longer play a role, making it significantly different from the real physical world.

The Bachelor’s program brings a fundamental understanding of the processes, skills, and knowledge needed to craft impactful digital experiences. The groundbreaking program partners provide a breadth of theory, technologies, and interdisciplinary perspectives.

Digitalization or digital transformation is one of the greatest challenges of our time and affects all areas of the economy, government, society and everyday life. Thus, professionals with the skills to work in highly digitalized environments are in high demand. The graduates of this program will have a broad basic knowledge of theories, concepts, methods, techniques and procedures for understanding the functional and design possibilities of digital technologies in the areas of business, science, and society, such as the planning and application of digital technologies or the development of business models and processes.

  • This Bachelor’s program equips students with state-of-the-art knowledge and skills in digital technologies in different sectors, such as business, healthcare or energy and the necessary economic, legal and technical foundations.
  • It fosters creativity and innovation skills to contribute to the development of new strategies, applications, and solutions and enables the students to actively contribute to the successful digital transformation in the various fields of application.
  • Students acquire key skills for taking on responsible tasks in the digital transformation in business, science and society. The Bachelor’s degree program enables them to act in a solution-oriented manner, present and communicate results to decision-makers in an understandable way and critically discuss new ideas, concepts and topics.
  • It qualifies the students to present the results of fundamental research questions and implementation work for a specialist audience and in a generally understandable way.
  • It equips the students with sound basic knowledge in research methods and practice, enabling them to carry out fundamental development and research work independently.
  • The graduates will be able to take on positions in interdisciplinary teams or to gain further professional and/or academic qualifications in a subsequent Master’s degree program.
