With open.German-UDS, Germany's first digital university, the German University of Digital Science (German UDS), offers a free, digital learning platform for lifelong learning and digital literacy. The platform is aimed at interested individuals worldwide and includes high-quality, tutored online courses on key topics of digital transformation. No formal prerequisites are required for these free courses.

The courses can be accessed at open.German-UDS.de. They combine academic insights with interactive learning formats, social learning spaces, and opportunities for exchange across national and disciplinary boundaries. open.German-UDS sees itself as a public learning space where learners, teachers, researchers, and practitioners can jointly develop and reflect on digital competencies.

The first course in the first half of 2026, starting on January 21, is the open course "Learning with AI." This course addresses the question of how artificial intelligence can be used confidently and responsibly in learning, work, and everyday life. Participants learn how to effectively utilize "AI interns"—openly accessible AI tools. Further open courses will launch during the first half of 2026, delving deeper into topics such as digital work, cyber threats from malware, digital finance, digital transformation, and identities in the digital space.

The platform open.German-UDS is operated by the German University of Digital Science. Germany's first state-accredited, fully digital university, it was founded in 2023 by Prof. Dr. Christoph Meinel and Prof. Dr. Mike Friedrichsen. All degree programs are offered 100% online and in English. The program is designed for students worldwide, particularly those from regions with limited access to higher education. The German UDS combines German university quality with global scientific excellence and reach.
