About

Michael Bruno Klein is a leader and academic with 30 years of experience at the intersection of science, business, and politics. He holds a habilitation and has built a career that spans high-level research management, corporate leadership, and federal policy-making him one of the most distinctively cross-disciplinary voices in German academia today.

He has served as Secretary General of both the Leibniz Association and acatech - the National Academy of Science and Engineering - where he played a central role in shaping Germany's science and technology landscape and advising government on digital transformation policy. He also served as Chairman of the Board of the German Marine Research Alliance (DAM) and currently holds the position of Secretary General of the Scientific Commission of Lower Saxony.

On the industry side, Prof. Klein has served as Senior Vice President at Robert Bosch GmbH and as CEO of the AiF - the German Federation of Industrial Research Associations - bringing hands-on corporate and strategic leadership experience alongside his academic work. He also serves on the Board of Directors and Advisory Board of XLifeSciences, and has led MBK Strategy & HR Consulting, focused on bridging academia, industry, and society.

His academic teaching includes a role as Adjunct Professor for the History of Technology and Innovation Policy at TU Berlin since 2014, and a Guest Professorship at the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR Berlin) from 2019 to 2022. 

At German UDS, Prof. Klein serves as University Professor of Transformative Digitalization and Sciences - bringing his rare combination of science policy, corporate strategy, and research governance directly into the digital education space.
